QUALITY HANDCRAFTED CUSTOM MADE CABINETS

These cabinets were made for my bathroom. The lumber to the left is what the wood looked like that I had to work with.
This lumber, which by the way is oak, was aquired in 8 - 10 foot lenghts from trailers that brought in concrete pipe on construction sites.
Most of the guys on the site would grab the stuff and cut it up for wood to burn. I took home one piece to see what it would look like. The beauty of the wood was what I expected. After that I grabbed as much as I could and built the following cabinetry for my home.

I DESIGNED AND DREW THE PLANS FOR THESE CUSTOM MADE CABINETS

All the cabinetry was fastened together using biscuit joinery. No screws and even my father-in-law, the master craftsman, could not tell how they were assembled.
Biscuit joinery creates an extremely strong bond, even stronger than the wood itself. I have tested the bond using this method and Yes, the wood snapped before the biscuits ever showed any stress.
I am obsessive when it comes to what grain pattern will be the one to show. Quality cabinets must not only be well constructed, but must be very pleasing to the eye. That's the beauty of wood.

THE TEST FIT FOR THESE CUSTOM MADE CABINETS

The before stage.
Showing the cabinetry before stain. When test fitting, if you need to adjust, this is the time to do so.
Do not rush quality. You will have to live with and look at those mistakes every day.

BEFORE STAIN AND AFTER CLEAR COAT

Use quality products if you want quality results.
Try to avoid using stains that contain a parafin wax base as the stain penetration is minimized. If you are used to using products like Minwax, then pro stains may be harder to work with.
Apply them in a continuous effort or you will get dark spots where you hesitate or overlap.

QUALITY CABINETS INSTALLED

All that hard work payed off.
They look better than what was there. Now there is storage where there was absolutely none.

FUNCTIONALITY THAT WILL OUTLAST THE BUILDER

The payoff.
For ease of use I decided to install a slide out shelf in the vanity for when old age sets in.
I had just enough wood left after the cabinetry build to trim the entire room.

QUALITY HANDCRAFTED CUSTOM MADE KITCHEN ISLAND CABINETS
This may not look like an island, but I mounted it on casters so that my wife could move it to where she felt it was most useful.
Yes there are casters mounted underneath. It is raised just enough to clear the floor surface to enable movement. It is heavy with all the pots and pans in it so it does not shift .
Also the back casters have a locking mechanism when you lift the hinged cover on the finished back side.

IT'S NOT CHEAP ... JUST LESS EXPENSIVE THAN YOU'D EXPECT.
